To Go To's

To Go to Outfits

Just like most of you, I have a lot of trouble trying to pick out an outfit every day. I always try to change it up but I always have my go to outfits! My main stables are black jeans, a grey sweater, black sneakers, a long necklace, a big cardigan, a white t-shirt and a nude lip color. Just from this little description, it is probably obvious that I do not wear much color. I usually stick to neutral colors and occasionally wear a colorful shirt to try something different. But everyone's style is different, of course, and your style can be completely different from mine.

However, I have come up with some outfit ideas that anyone could change to make their own. So, if you are having a mental block and need some help choosing an outfit for your day, here is some inspiration.

First:

This outfit is the perfect "sporty" look. It is very easy to put together and you can multitask with it; you are comfortable and look cute at the same time!

Dark jeans, a t-shirt, leather jacket, Stan Smiths, a watch and baseball hat.

Second:
This outfit is perfect for a nice dinner or going out to for the day. A simple dress with tall boots never fails for anyone. I put a fur vest over this dress and added a cross body bag and sunglasses for a final touch.

Pictured:
Shift red dress, over-the-knee black boots, tan fur vest, ray ban "Erika" sunglasses and Marc Jacobs black cross body bag.

Third:
This outfit is great for any day and for any casual occasion. I would wear this to go to class, out with friends or to dinner.

Pictured:
Black high neck sweater, grey ripped jeans, layered gold necklace, black booties, army green tote bag and a nude lip color.

Fourth:
If you are feeling a little different today, here is something new to spice up your outfit! A bomber jacket is perfect to throw on over any top you wear. I chose an "Obey" tank to show that you can make this outfit more casual. But, you can change it up to be dressier by changing the top.

Black jeans, "Obey" tank top, army green bomber jacket, Larson & Jennings silver watch, stackable rings and black booties

Fifth:
Feeling inspired by mens clothing? This is one of my favorite outfits. I have always been obsessed with this look (and honestly, I will continue to!). You can wear any top with these jeans - a crop top, a graphic tee with a big cardigan, a sweatshirt, etc. - and it would still look complete.

I hope this helps for the next time you pick out an outfit for the day! Lots of love always.

Men's Fashion is Better

Men's Fashion is Better than Women's

Fashion has helped men and women express themselves however they please. Over time, women's fashion has become less feminine and a little more masculine. But of course people can choose how they want to dress everyday. As the times change so do the trends but fashion always repeats itself.

As the newest collections come out each season, I am always inspired to purchase some of the best pieces. I look at both the men and women's collection of each season to see the best trends. The simple, classic style has always been around for men and now women are starting to follow this (and I am not complaining!).

So how do men get so lucky by wearing simple clothing and still look good? Here are some things to keep in mind -

  1. Men don't try as hard as women do.
  2. They can always put on jeans, a zip up and sneakers.
  3. Button downs never fail.
  4. Living in sweatpants and timberlands is acceptable.
  5. Baseball hats are always in.

Now if you ask me I would love to be able to pull off any men's style any day but, that's what makes being a girl different and even more fun :). I love men's fashion for ideas on how to make my style a little bit different. So, next time you are stuck on finding an outfit to wear, look up men's outfits! Here are some examples -

I hope this helps you with your next outfit choice. Remember, simplicity is always better.

Small World

It Really is a Small World After All

As most of you know, I am a coffee fanatic. I will find happiness in every coffee shop that I walk into. The instant vibe will set the standards of how good the coffee will be.

I am fortunate enough to live ten minutes away from the town of Princeton, NJ, which has many shops, restaurants, and cafes. There is one shop that stands out and is the most well known in the town; this place is called Small World Coffee which is located on Witherspoon Street. Not only are there students, business workers, and parents, the shop welcomes you with positivity. The menu is small but quite perfect for anyone who knows what kind of coffee they like to drink. Snacks are served such as cookies, biscotti, muffins, croissants, scones, etc. to go with your cup of coffee. The workers are always at their best, more like 1000%. They will continue to have a smile on their face throughout the whole day. Even when the shop gets a rush, they are even happier to serve you.

When I was a rookie, I would just order a "double joe to go." Ever since my love for coffee has grown, I have been experimenting with every drink on the menu. The lattes, cappuccinos, macchiatos, and teas can boost your day any day. My person favorites are by season; winter - cappuccino forte, spring - iced coffee, summer - nola or arnold palmer, fall - latte.

Throughout the shop there are people constantly working, talking, eating, listening, or reading. Every person that walks into Small World Coffee has a purpose. My purpose is to see what every single person is meant to be doing. I love to see how everyone is different and how they can all be in one specific place at one specific time. Even though most people are there to chat or do work, it still makes the shop special to welcome any person with open arms.

What makes Small World Coffee even better is that there are two locations - double the coffee! This location has the same exact drink menu and it has a bigger food selection. At the Nassau Street shop, you can order sandwiches, salads, oatmeal, etc. and snacks. There is not as much room to sit inside at this location but it is perfect for a quick grab and go.

I have to admit that I am a little spoiled that I can drive ten minutes down the road to purchase one of the best cups of coffee that I will ever have. While I'm at school, there is no coffee shop that is even close to Small World. But for when I visit home, it makes the trip even more special to come back to one of my favorite places in the world.

Winter in the City

Winter Favorites in the Big Apple

Of course winter is a huge pain to everyone who hates the cold. But, is it really that terrible? As much as I hate the cold, I do appreciate it. It is always fun to bundle up in your favorite sweaters, jackets, hats, scarves, and gloves. Traveling into the great city of New York is always a rush, especially in the winter. You have to be prepared to walk around in the freezing cold for blocks and blocks. However, sometimes this is not enjoyable and yes, I tend to agree. Hopping around Soho into different stores with a huge winter coat on is quite an experience.

Yesterday I was lucky enough to be in New York with good friends. Walking around the East Village and Tompkins Square Park was absolutely beautiful. Exploring this side of the city was very different; it is a quiet neighborhood with many hidden restaurants and cafes. We ate brunch at a local restaurant called Grape and Grain. It was a very selective, delicious menu - it was hard to pick a meal! We all ended up getting a sunny side up brunch with toast and bacon and of course, a coffee.

As the snow became heavier, we decided to try to find somewhere warm before heading back home. We came across a cafe a couple blocks down from the park called Ost Cafe. It is located on the corner of East 12th Street and Avenue A. This little cafe brought joy to everyone in it. There was people reading, writing, journaling, talking and most of all, staying warm. The hot chocolate, lattes, and cookies were outstanding (I highly recommend trying the cookies). It was the perfect place to stay in for 45 minutes just to take a break from the snow and cold weather.

Sure winter can be a huge pain but there is nothing wrong with sitting in a restaurant or cafe all day long. Winter is finally here which means I'm officially counting down the days until beach weather. Stay warm people and thank you for visiting :).
